Would the copyright law protect a filipino writer from having his books photocopied (in very poor quality, i might add), scanned page by page, converted into pdf files, and uploaded on the internet by a fellow filipino?

With the kind of support filipino writers are getting these days, you’d start to wonder:
“Where did all the great minds go?”

“Now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
Sometime ago, I traded e-mail with a friend who was approaching 30 and had no serious love relationship in sight. He’s talented, fun, handsome, and a committed Christian. But so far, everything on his romantic horizon has turned out to be a mirage.
Several months earlier, he had been very enthusiastic about a young woman with whom he was corresponding. Two weeks before they were to meet for the first time, she was killed by a drunk driver. My friend made the trip to meet her family, experience their pain, and deal with his own sense of loss.
Today, many people will feel the absence of love as keenly as others celebrate its presence. In a world where love means so much, is there a word from the Lord for everyone, with or without a sweetheart?
First John 4 focuses not on being loved by another person, but on God’s love for us and our love for one another (v. 7-11). According to 1 Corinthians 13:7, this love “bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
How is this possible? Because God’s love “has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit” (Romans 5:5)
Long after the cards and flowers are forgotten, there is love from God’s heart to ours!

My all time favorite pop/jazz artist, Julia Fordham, performed some of her hits to the delight of the filipino crowd at the Trinoma Mall. It’s good to know that filipinos are starting to appreciate pop jazz music.
Toti Fuentes’ band did fairly well and the backup singers were good, too. Filipino musicians and singers are definitely world class talents! Couldn’t help but notice though that Julia was hitting flats by the seventh song, Happy Ever After. Must be due to the fact that she’s already tired, and a 12 song lineup is not an easy thing to do. Yes, i still love her!

Here’s a list of some of the songs Julia performed during the concert:
Falling Forward
Girlfriend
Porcelain
Someone to Watch over me
Invisible War
Happy Ever After
Love Moves in Mysterious Ways
Loving You
Missed the concert? No problem, videos to Julia’s concert are available thru my multiply account. Just follow the links below. Enjoy!
By the way, the 400 seats advertised in the fliers (supposedly on a first-come, first-served basis) was not really followed! Some of the seats were reserved for sponsors and vips, so only a portion of the seats were actually alloted to the public. We were very disappointed with the organizers of the event.
We arrived at the Trinoma Mall at 10:00AM to get the free tickets, only to find out that they ran out of stubs to give out by the time we reached the Concierge booth. How can that be possible? How can they ran out of tickets in a matter of minutes? There were more or less 150 people in line that time. Unbelievable! The part that they ran out of stubs was not the thing that upsets us, it was the manner the person at the Concierge booth handled the situation.
Person at the booth addressing the old couple in front of the line: “You can still watch the show from the different levels/areas of the mall.”
The old lady (obviously upset): “Ok, then we’ll just bring our own chairs.”

“Lord, let me be a song that lingers in Your ears
A pleasing sound that touches Your heart
Let me be the music that carries Your message
To a world that is hurting and torn apart.”
- Joy Isaguirre
